Szekelyhid Prayer Prompt 10

Pray that our passion for the lost will increase.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38

There are 5 billion people in this world who do not claim Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Some of these people have never heard the gospel. God invites them to accept Jesus as savior, but the Bible says that hearing the gospel is a necessary part of salvation. How can people in our marketplace hear unless we tell them?

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompt 9

Szekelyhid Prayer Prommpts Day 7

Pray for unity of purpose, guided by the Holy Spirit, among Szekelyhid’s members.

I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. (John 17:20-21)

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompts Day 6

Pray that Szekelyhid’s members will be known as Bible-believing people.

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17)

We lose our effectiveness as Christians when we try to add to or take away from the Bible. There is a reason that the Bible is the best-selling book in the world.

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompts Day 5

Pray that God will protect his children from Satan.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13)

The Bible describes Satan as a roaring lion seeking to devour us. He is a liar and a con artist and will do anything to ruin our effeteness as a disciple-maker. Jesus prayed that God would protect us from Satan. He will if we let Him.

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompts Day 4

Pray that church members will repent of all sins in their lives as they are to them by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:31-32)

The Bible teaches us that we are ineffective witnesses when there is unconfessed sin in our lives. One of the responsibilities of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of our sins so that we can confess them to God and through His forgiveness be restored to a right relationship with Him. If we ask the Holy Spirit, He will reveal to us the things we do that are wrong and also the things we should do but don’t do.

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompts Day 3

Pray that members of Szekelyhid Renewed Baptist Church will be kept by, in and through God’s Name.

Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. (John 17:11)

In the Bible, “name” refers to the character of a person. Our God is just and powerful and loving, full of grace and mercy. He is more than capable of protecting us from Satan and maturing us to be more like Him.

Bold Praying - Summit Church, Durham

The following excerpt was copied from a post about the Prayer Room at Summit Church, Durham NC.

Wouldn't it be great if more churches had a Prayer Room like this?

We prayed for the lost people coming through our church doors that morning. For their salvation. For their open hearts. For their lives to be changed in that service.
We prayed for revival among Muslims in Iran. (Talk about bold!)
We prayed for our church planters — for their hearts and that God would be near during times of loneliness. We prayed for their churches, for their people, for their cities.
We prayed for those among us with long-term, unanswered prayers. For boldness in their asking, for persistence, for faith to believe the promises of God.
We prayed for our missionaries around the world. For their protection, for their hearts, for the people they are serving. We prayed for their children.
We prayed for those who professed faith in Christ at our Christmas services at DPAC. How could we forget them? We held that service for them!
We thanked God for the blessings of the past year and we asked him for guidance as we enter a new year.

We sat in that room and got to hear other people’s hearts for The Summit Church, hear their fervent prayers for the global church, for our city, and for the local churches in Raleigh-Durham. We learned from them, and we joined with them.
We collectively proclaimed this truth: A praying church is a church that is near to God’s heart. If we want access to the very heartbeat of God, we need to be a people of prayer.

Szekelyhid Prayer Prompts Day 2

Pray that we will seek and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. (Rom. 8:26)

Before Jesus returned to heaven, He promised us that he would send the Holy Spirit to guide us, correct us, comfort us and to live within us. We have the same power to advance the kingdom of God that propelled the growth of the growth in the 1st century. Needs of the Roma people in Szekelyhid (and Eastern Europe) are great; we can hope to meet these needs without the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Prompts

For the leaders and members of Szekeyhid Renewed Baptist Church and the entire community, pray that…

1.      God will be honored and glorified by everything that we do.  For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened” (Rom. 1:21).

2.     We will seek and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us[a] with unspoken groanings. (Rom. 8:26)

3.     Members of the church will be kept by, in and through God’s Name.  Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. (John 17:11)

4.     We will repent of the sins in our lives that are revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:31-32)

5.     God will protect his children from Satan.  And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13)

6.     Pray that Szekelyhid’s members will be known as Bible-believing people.  Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17

7.     Pray for unity of purpose, guided by the Holy Spirit, among Szekelyhid’s members.  I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. (John 17:20-21)

8.       Pray that they all of Szekelyhid’s members will be open to the needs of the community. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 12:31)

9.        Pray for forgiveness of our pride and arrogance that keeps us from submitting to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (James 4:6)

10.   Pray that our passion for the lost will increase. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

11.   Pray that our youth will become God-fearing witnesses to our world.  Dear heavenly Father, how we thank and praise you for the young men and women who have trusted in the Lord Jesus as their Savior and we ask that You would work in the lives of all young people who have stepped out in faith in the Son of God.

12.   Pray that we will be welcoming to everyone.  But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”  Jesus replied, “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” (Luke 10:29, 36-37)

13.   Pray that the next Spiritual Awakening will begin among the members of Szekelyhid Renewed Baptist Church.  This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. (Romans 13:11)

14.   Pray that we have the wisdom and courage to make disciples as we go.
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

15.   Pray that we finish the work that God has given us to do.  I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. (John 17:4)

16.   Pray that we speak the truth in love.  But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. (Ephesians 4:15)

17.   Pray that God will raise up a generation of our children who will answer His calling.  Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.

18.   Pray that each member of Szekelyhid will have a heart that seeks after God.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

19.   Ask God to teach us to pray toward His purposes and His kingdom.  Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. (Matthew 6:9)

20.   Pray that each of us live our lives in submission to God.  Come to terms with God and be at peace; in this way[a] good will come to you. (Job 22:21)

21.   Pray that God will forgive us for not desperately seeking him.

Goal and Mission

Since 1996, I have maintained a current Life Plan. I have learned that a written document to periodically review is a good way to keep balance in a fast-paced life. The plan is not complex and based on a simple goal and Mission statement:

My goal is to have a deep, real and intimate relationship with God as my father.

My Mission is to discern and then follow God’s plan for my life to the best of my ability as I share the gospel and meet the needs of others in my unique marketplace.
